From the Pastor:
The Bible says in John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”. In the preaching of the gospel, you here words like
· Invitation
· Receive the Lord as Savior
· Being saved
· Give your heart to Jesus
While none of these words give the complete idea of being a Christian, they do represent biblical truths. The passage in John tells us that people who receive Jesus are given power (authority) to become children of God. There is an act of the human will involved in becoming a Christian. You receive Jesus! You become a child of God! Today’s reality check is focused on the relational nature of Christianity. Christianity is not a set of rules to obey or simply religious rituals to be done weekly. It is a living, breathing, vibrant relationship with a God who is personal with His people. If you have never received Him, we invite you to give your heart to Jesus and go home with a new relationship today. Baptism Service planned During the summer months, we have many options for baptism. Last Sunday we experienced a great time at the Ohio River as three persons were baptized. We also have a personal swimming pool available. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and have not yet been baptized, let us know by contacting your leader, teacher or indicating this on a Welcome Card. Prayer Time Calling all prayer warriors! We have a list of prayer concerns located in the computer room of the church. Please check this often as requests will change. Also, today we want to make specific prayer for the UBA Summer Camp. Camp Mac will begin tonight and go through Saturday morning. Last year we saw God move in the lives of the campers and three professed faith in Jesus Christ. Let’s ask God to move in a mighty way.
