Ready or Not!
Remember the game we all played when we were kids? Someone was determined to be it and the rest of the players hid. When the it person finished counting, he would yell ready or not, here I come.
I never wanted to be it. Not in hide and seek or tag. Who does? Then, we become adults and put away childish things as the Bible instructs. We stop hiding. Or do we? We are no longer hiding from it but we might very well be hiding. We hide from God, we hide from truth and we try to hide from reality. We spend a lot of time and money trying to not focus on real life issues.
Take for example the second coming of Christ. The Bible is 100% accurate and tells us that He is coming back. The Bible tells us of a time when antichrist will rule the world and bring the world together under his authority. The Bible tells us that God himself will one day give people over to their rejection of Him. The Bible says that it is appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27
Why do you think there is such a demand for entertainment? Entertainment is not bad in itself, but it seems the whole culture is wrapped up in things that really dont matter. We eagerly spend hours upon hours playing while reality is being ignored.
This is called the information age and rightly so. Never in the time of the history of man has there been such an interest in the sharing of information. The internet shares things from next door to around the world. Cellular telephones make it possible to communicate non-stop throughout the day with anyone anywhere in the world. These even offer photos, videos and games. Sometime, go into a crowded room and watch how many people are consumed into their own cellular-world. They are obviously oblivious to the outside world around them. Some even take the ridiculous chance to text message while they drive! This is indeed madness!
What is going on here? I believe the answer is simple. We simply cannot bear to be still and know that I am God? We are wasting our time with frivolous things and ignoring reality. We are hiding Something or someone is looking for us. He will someday find us. Lets put away childish things. Lets focus on reality.
