Word For the Week

"Dignity or Dancing?"

Welcome to the Word for the Week We are glad that you chose to visit our site today!

Today we want to meet with the Lord Jesus. That is the priority today. It is a blessing to meet with the believers but nothing compares with meeting with the Lord of Lords.

Last week, we discussed King David's enthusiasm as the Ark of the Covenant was brought into Jerusalem.
When the ark, which represented the presence of God, was brought in; David took off his royal attire and danced with all his might before the Lord. Subsequently, his wife Michal mocked David's indignity!

The word Dignity means " to give distinction to confer dignity upon ; also: to give undue attention or status to....."

Which is the correct way to meet with the Lord? With dignity or dancing?
When David spoke to his wife he said  "And I will be even more undignified than this!"
2 Samuel 6:22 22

The word he used meant "Vile,to treat with contempt, bring contempt or dishonour."

David answered his critic by saying he would be undignified in his worship of the Lord. Should we do the same?
If being dignified means giving attention and distinction to ourselves (it does), then it is not needed when we worship. In fact, worship and even the totality of life is all about someone other than ourselves. That person is the object of our worship. He is the King of Kings! He is Jesus Christ the Lord!

True worship is undignified because it doesn't focus on the self. True worship focuses on the one to whom worship is due. It is to be done with reckless abandon and joyfully to a God who truly does enjoy it!

Take a moment and let it sink in..........................................................................
