“O Come Let Us Adore Him”

December is here! And so is the Holiday Season!

What does the Christmas Holiday mean to you?

For many it is an exciting time of shopping and gifts.

For many it is a time of loneliness.

For most, it is a hectic time.

The season will be filled with Christmas Carols and songs everywhere. You will hear them on the radio, in stores and restaurants and on the television. They will be coupled with the commercials that tell you to “hurry up and buy!” “Hurry while supplies last”. “Three hour sale events”.  “Easy credit terms”. “Don’t miss out on these great bargains”. And so it goes.

Doesn’t much of this seem like madness? Do we really think that we can buy things that will give us the Christmas of our dreams? Can material things bring lasting joy?

The Christmas Song “O Come all ye faithful” has the words “O Come let us Adore Him” in the chorus.

What is the meaning of the song? No one would question that this is a Christmas Song but there is no reference to “spend, spend spend”! Could it be that the secular world around us is talking about something else?

We celebrate Christmas and call it the birthday of Jesus. While it is not the literal birthday, we can still celebrate the fact that “God became Man”. But to really do that, we should celebrate by keeping the principles that He taught us. He was clear that: “a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." Luke 12:15 NIV

Mankind was not created for greed. He was created to worship God. So this Christmas,

“O come let us adore Him”.  Jesus is the source of Life and lasting Joy!

Take a moment and let it sink in………
